Sergiy Sviatchenko, Egor Zigura - HOPE

Hope is the figure of a dove captured in a rhythmic, dynamic motion, carrying an olive branch in its beak like an instrument of peace. The bird symbolizes the strength required to overcome the enemy, and a shared aspiration for a future we will all be a part of.
The concept for the piece emerged at the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022. It was then that Sergiy Sviatchenko, who has lived and worked in Denmark for over three decades, created the initial sketch as an artistic reflection on the war in Ukraine. In collaboration with him, Egor Zigura brought the vision to life in a three-dimensional form. The creation of the four-meter sculpture took about a year, spanning Kyiv, Kharkiv, Viborg, and Nice. The dove has now been permanently installed in the public space of the Art Centre Silkeborg Bad in Denmark.
The project was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Almennyttige Fond Jyske Bank, Cartier, and the Abramovych Foundation.
